NC500 is a daylight balanced 400 ISO colour negative film designed for shooting outdoors in natural light. It delivers soft, dreamy colours with a pastel like quality, a gentle warm yellow tone, rich reds, and natural greens. Shadows lean slightly desaturated and grain adds texture without overpowering the image, creating an expressive, cinematic look that shines on sunny days. NC400 is a tungsten balanced 400 ISO colour negative film designed for artificial and mixed lighting. It produces a more restrained and deliberate palette, with smoother grain, natural greens, gently muted shadows, and controlled contrast. Indoors, it delivers a refined cinematic feel. When shot in daylight, it shifts cooler with blue toned results that many photographers love for their moody, experimental character.

ORWO has been clear that these films are not attempts to replicate existing stocks. They are not rebranded, repackaged, or sourced from Kodak or Fujifilm. Both NC400 and NC500 are newly produced colour films, manufactured in Germany as part of ORWO’s return to colour film production.
